Welcoming children, creating lasting memories
A new child in the family is a beautiful and precious event!
Traditionally, many families have Christened or baptised a child soon after birth as a way of welcoming them into the world and their faith. This has also acted as a way of introducing that child into their wider circle of family and friends, along with formally naming them.
A naming ceremony is just that, without the faith part, although elements of faith can be included in the ceremony if you wish.
Naming ceremonies can be held in any location you choose and can be created in any style – customised to suit the personalities and values of your family.

Creating your ceremony
Planning a naming ceremony is simple, creative and fun!
Every child is different, and from a very young age their personalities start to show. I remember my son, even as a babe in arms, always screamed the moment I went near a clothes shop! My advice to any future girlfriends… don’t ask him to go shopping with you!
When I create a naming ceremony, I take all of this uniqueness into account, listening carefully to your stories, memories, values and wishes.
Naming ceremonies can include any elements you wish alongside the naming of the child. Most people like to make promises to their child / children and assign Godparents or Guideparents to them. Many also like to include readings, songs and special rituals to express and symbolise their family unity. Other children and members of the family can also be involved in many unique ways.
A naming ceremony can be held in your garden, local village hall, the woods… absolutely anywhere. Don’t worry if you’re not sure what you want yet or where to start – I will work closely with you to ensure we make bringing a new child into the family a truly special celebration.
